Author Guidelines
1. Focus and Scope
The Goettingen Journal of International Law (GoJIL) is an e-journal that focuses on international law. We therefore accept articles in its numerous and diverse fields, e.g. international criminal, humanitarian and economic law, while also offering contributions from related disciplines such as international relations, history or economics.
Submissions are classified as:
- a general article consisting of about 15,000 words
- an article on current developments consisting of about 6,000 to 15,000 words
- a report or commentary (e.g. on judgements or recent case-law
2. Creative Commons License
Scholars wishing to submit their work for review should be aware that all GoJIL content is published under a Creative Commons License CC BY-ND 4.0 DE. It is the responsibility of the authors to clarify all copyright matters. Requests for copyrighted material should include the information that publication permits must be granted for Open Access/CCL publication.

4. Peer Review Process
The Goettingen Journal of International Law follows a double-blind peer review process, meaning that both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous to each other. Each submitted article is handed to two selected experts in the field of the article, who independently assess its quality, originality, and relevance. This ensures an impartial evaluation, as reviewers focus solely on the merits of the research without being influenced by the author’s identity, affiliation, or background. The process enhances academic integrity and helps maintain high scholarly standards.
