Abstract

The article analyzes the increasing importance of demographic knowledge for German migration policies and how it shapes the current cycle of racism. Since the 1990s controversial political forces referred to speculative longterm projections of the impact of immigration for the (economic) future of the nation. Today, the project of ’qualified immigration‘ is shared by a broad range of political forces and stabilizes as well as rearranges patterns of racism. Questions of qualification and human resources as well as projections of ’reproductive behaviour‘ are becoming influential criteria of differential in/exclusion.
