Abstract

Answering to common problems of segregated and non-segregated workshops on racism, we present a new approach to teaching students the basics of critical race theory in university classes and discuss it based on qualitative empirical data. By working in stages of segregated and desegregated group work as part of the teaching method, we aim at a reflection of both sides necessary to fully understand racism: the universality of objective racist structures and the particularity of its subjective experience in dependence of one’s own position in society.
